If you write, read

If you want to be a writer, read. Otherwise you'll be trying to create a piece of writing without a blueprint. I don't mean that you should copy someone elses style, but paying attention to how others do it, will help you to develope your own style. We all have a voice and writing makes your voice heard. It may be to inform, to entertain, or to question but your voice, your thoughts will be out there for the public to view. That scares a lot of us and if it scares you, you must overcome that fear if you want to write sucessfully.

If all you do is write and never share, if you choose your words so that the real you hides behind them, you can not suceed as a writer.

Let go of the fear. It's hard but worth it.
